Appearance: Amber-colored liquid, free fromvisible extraneous matter.
Density: 1.146 g/cm3
Melting Point: 0.5 ~ 1.5 ° C
Boiling Pint: 450.169° C at 760 mmHg
Flash Point: 226.054° C
Solubility: (20° C) in water 23ppm, easily soluble in benzene, methyl benzene etc.
Stability: Stable to heat, light, acid, and alkali. Stable in neutral, weakly acidic and weakly alkaline media; Hydrolysed by strong acid (pH 1) and alkalis (pH 13)
Toxicity
Acute oral: LD50 for rats 2000, mice 4747, rabbits >5010 mg/kg.
Acute dermal: LD50 for rabbit's > 13000 mg/kg.
Contact with the skin: Moderate irritation to skin (rabbits).
Contact with the eyes: Practically non-irritating to eyes (rabbits).
Inhalation: LD50 (4 h) for rats > 3.34 mg/l air.
Sensitization: Contact sensitization reactions observed in Guinea pigs.
NOEL: For rats 100 mg/kg diet (ppm), for mice 50 mg/kg diet (ppm), for dogs 5 mg/kg b. W. Daily.
Application
Selective systemic herbicide, absorbed primarily by the germinating shoots, and secondarily by the roots. Used preemergence for the control of annual grasses and certain broadqeaved weeds in rice, both seeded and transplanted. It shows selectivity in wheat barley, cotton, peanuts, sugar beet, and several brassica crops. Effective rates range from 1.0 4.5 kg a. I. /ha. Activity is dependent on water availability such as rainfall following treatment, overhead irrigation or applications to standing water as in rice culture.
